State’s Attorney’s Office Drug Overdose and Prevention Vigil – Keynote Speaker Keith Mills, WBAL TV
Please join us on March 26th, 7-9 p.m. at the Portico at St. John's for this very important vigil that will recognize the lives lost to drug addiction, and will provide community support to the grieving friends and families left behind. We will also discuss how we can all play a role in preventing future overdose deaths in this County. Keith Mills, from WBAL TV, will serve as the keynote speaker to share his own personal story about his addiction

On April 11th, State's Attorney Brian DeLeonardo and several from this Office will be "Walking a Mile in Her Shoes" in order to raise money for the Rape Crisis Invervention Service of Carroll County. We will walk in heels from Dutterer Park to Westminster Park. This tremendous organization is essential in providing support for victims of sexual assault, and all money raised goes directly to benefitting those victims in Carroll County. Our office along with local law enforcement will be at the Town Mall of Westminster helping with the Maryland Child Identification Program. This service provides parents with their child DNA, voice, fingerprints, and digital photo.

In an effort to help our county’s teenagers, young-adults, parents, and teachers recognize the signs of relationship violence and how to help someone in danger, our Office will be holding a screening of “Escalation,” a movie created by the One Love Foundation to spread awareness about relationship abuse. The screening is scheduled for April 20, 2016 at the Carroll Arts Center, and will be followed by a brief discussion on relationship abuse and the services available in Carroll County.

National Night Out is held in neighborhoods throughout Carroll County, and across the nation. Residents in neighborhoods can lock their homes, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors, the State's Attorney Office, and police. Many neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of special events such as ice cream social, cookouts, and youth activities. Police officers will be stopping by the neighborhoods thought the evening. The 38th Annual Fallfest begins September 22nd through 25th! The State's Attorney's Office along with Westminster Police Department and the Masonic Lodge will provide the Maryland CHIPS identification kits for parents. The identification kits include photo of your child, voice recording and digital fingerprinting. Bring your friends and family to the biggest fall festival in Carroll County.
